Broad-billed Roller

Eurystomus glaucurus (Müller, PLS, 1776)

Coraciidae — Rollers

Broad-billed Roller, Eurystomus glaucurus, is a roller that breeds widely across Africa, including tropical regions and Madagascar, and is found in open woodland with tall trees, especially close to water. It is a wet season breeder and moves from the northern and southern parts of its range towards the moister equatorial belt during the dry season. The broad bill is bright yellow, and the sexes look alike. The juvenile is duller than the adult and has a paler breast. It was first described by Müller in 1776.
