Bronze Mannikin

Cryptospiza reichenovii

The Bronze Mannikin (Cryptospiza reichenovii) is a small finch species found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is known for its distinctive bronze-colored plumage and a black head. These birds are often found in grasslands, savannas, and agricultural areas, where they forage for seeds and small insects. They are social birds and often form large flocks, especially during the non-breeding season. The Bronze Mannikin is known for its cheerful chirping and acrobatic flight displays. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade are potential concerns for this species.
