Polyplectron chalcurum
The Bronze-tailed Peacock-Pheasant is a striking bird native to the montane forests of Southeast Asia. With its iridescent blue and green plumage, intricate bronze tail feathers, and distinctive facial pattern, this species is a true marvel to behold. These birds are known for their elaborate courtship displays, during which the males fan out their tail feathers and perform intricate dances to attract females. They are primarily ground-dwelling, foraging for fruits, seeds, and insects in the forest understory. Unfortunately, habitat loss and hunting pose significant threats to their populations.
