Speculanas specularis
The Bronze-winged Duck, scientifically known as Speculanas specularis, is a species of waterfowl found in South America. It is characterized by its striking plumage, with a glossy greenish-black head and neck, chestnut brown body, and distinctive bronze speculum on the wings. These ducks inhabit freshwater lakes, marshes, and lagoons, often preferring areas with dense vegetation for nesting and feeding. They are primarily herbivorous, feeding on aquatic plants, seeds, and small invertebrates. The Bronze-winged Duck is considered a small to medium-sized waterfowl, measuring around 40-46 cm in length. Its conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
