Turdoides plebejus
The Brown Babbler (Turdoides plebejus) is a species of bird found in the woodlands and savannas of southern Africa. These social birds are known for their distinctive chattering calls and are often found in small groups foraging for insects and seeds. The Brown Babbler has a brownish-grey plumage with a paler underbelly and a distinctive black eye-stripe. They are medium-sized birds with a length of around 20-25 cm. Their habitat consists of dry thornveld, open woodland, and scrub, where they can be found foraging for food on the ground or in low vegetation. The conservation status of the Brown Babbler is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
