The Brown-backed Solitaire, scientifically known as Myadestes occidentalis, is a medium-sized thrush found in the highland forests of Mexico and Guatemala. This bird is known for its rich brown plumage on the back and wings, contrasting with a grayish-white belly. It has a melodious and flute-like song, often heard echoing through the dense mountain forests. The Brown-backed Solitaire primarily feeds on insects, berries, and fruits. It plays a vital role in seed dispersal within its habitat, contributing to the diversity of plant species. Despite its relatively restricted range, the species is not currently considered at risk.
