Pellorneum poliogene
The Brown-capped Babbler (Pellorneum poliogene) is a small, secretive bird found in the dense undergrowth of tropical and subtropical forests in Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive brown cap and a warm brownish-grey plumage, with a white throat and underparts. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the early morning and late afternoon. Brown-capped Babblers forage on the forest floor, feeding on insects, small invertebrates, and occasionally seeds. They are typically found in pairs or small groups and are known for their shy and elusive nature. Despite their inconspicuous behavior, they play an important role in the ecosystem as seed dispersers and insect control agents.
