Brown-capped Weaver, Ploceus insignis, is a bird of the family Ploceidae found in Africa, with breeding recorded in eastern Nigeria and western Cameroon, western Angola, and from southern South Sudan to eastern DR Congo and western and northern Tanzania. It was described by Sharpe in 1891. Its range also includes Burundi, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
