Brown-chested Alethe, Chamaetylas poliocephala, is a passerine in the Muscicapidae family and breeds in western and central Africa. It occurs in a patchy way across the African tropical rainforest. Its habitat is moist lowland forest and moist montane forest in subtropical or tropical regions. First described by Bonaparte in 1850, it is one of four species now placed in Chamaetylas. The name was originally published from a manuscript by Coenraad Temminck, and the type locality was later narrowed to Bioko, formerly Fernando Po.
