Brown Cuckoo-Dove, Macropygia phasianella, is a dove of eastern Australia, with its breeding range in that part of Australasia. It lives in rainforest, woodland, scrubland and areas of rainforest regrowth. It is a large, long-tailed dove with short wings, and its plumage is rich rusty brown, with the back and wings darker. Males show a slight rose and green tint on the nape and neck. It is found from Weipa and Aurukun northwards to Bega, and inland as far as Atherton and Toowoomba.
