Apalis alticola (Shelley, 1899)

Brown-headed Apalis, Apalis alticola, is a passerine of the Cisticolidae found in Africa, with a patchy presence in central and eastern parts of the continent. It lives in forest and secondary growth at mid to high altitudes. The species has a long tail and a fairly long, slender bill, and the adult male and female look the same. Its crown and cheeks are chocolate-brown, the upperparts are grey-brown, and the underparts are whitish. It was described by Shelley in 1899 and includes two subspecies, one of which is confined to the Marungu plateau in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
