Brown-headed Gull

Chroicocephalus brunnicephalus

The Brown-headed Gull is a small to medium-sized gull species found in parts of Asia. During the breeding season, adults display a distinctive brown hood, which contrasts with their white body and wings. Juveniles have a mottled brown plumage. These gulls are often found in coastal areas, estuaries, and inland wetlands, where they forage for fish, insects, and small crustaceans. They are known for their graceful flight and distinctive calls. The Brown-headed Gull is a colonial nester, forming large breeding colonies on islands or coastal marshes. This species is not globally threatened, but local populations may face habitat loss and disturbance.
