Ploceus tricolor
The Brown-headed Weaver (Ploceus tricolor) is a small, sparrow-sized bird found in eastern Africa. Males have a distinctive brown head, bright yellow underparts, and a black bill. Females are more subtly colored with a duller brown head and paler underparts. These weavers are highly social birds, often found in large flocks, and are known for their intricately woven, gourd-shaped nests. They primarily feed on seeds and insects, foraging in open grasslands and cultivated areas. The Brown-headed Weaver is a common sight in its range and is known for its lively and melodious song.
