Chalcopsitta duivenbodei
The Brown Lory, scientifically known as Chalcopsitta duivenbodei, is a medium-sized parrot native to the forests of New Guinea and nearby islands. It is characterized by its predominantly brown plumage, with a red patch on the forehead and blue streaks on the wings. These sociable birds are often found in flocks, feeding on nectar, fruit, and seeds. They are known for their playful and curious nature, and are popular as pets due to their charming personalities. Brown Lories are highly vocal, producing a range of calls and whistles. Unfortunately, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade have led to population declines, resulting in a conservation status of Near Threatened according to the IUCN Red List.
