Brown-necked Parrot

Poicephalus fuscicollis

The Brown-necked Parrot, also known as the Cape Parrot, is a medium-sized parrot species native to southern Africa. These parrots are known for their striking plumage, with a predominantly green body, brownish-grey head and neck, and bright red shoulder patches. They are highly social birds, often found in flocks, and are known for their playful and inquisitive nature. Brown-necked Parrots primarily inhabit indigenous forests and woodland areas, where they feed on a variety of fruits, seeds, and nuts. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade, the Brown-necked Parrot is classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
