Corvus ruficollis
The Brown-necked Raven (Corvus ruficollis) is a medium-sized raven found in arid and semi-arid regions of North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. It is easily recognized by its glossy black plumage and distinctive brown neck. These intelligent birds are highly adaptable and are often found in a variety of habitats including deserts, rocky areas, and open plains. They are opportunistic feeders, scavenging for a wide range of food including carrion, insects, and plant matter. The Brown-necked Raven is known for its harsh and varied calls, and it often forms large communal roosts. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and persecution in some areas may pose future conservation concerns.
