Brown Noddy

Anous stolidus

The Brown Noddy (Anous stolidus) is a seabird found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide. It is known for its distinctive brown plumage, pointed wings, and deeply forked tail. Brown Noddies are highly adapted for aerial feeding, often catching fish and squid by plunge-diving into the water. They are colonial nesters, often breeding on remote islands and atolls. Their melodic calls can be heard as they gather in large flocks. Brown Noddies play a vital role in marine ecosystems, contributing to nutrient cycling and serving as indicators of ocean health.
