Brown Rock Chat, Oenanthe fusca, is a bird of the Muscicapidae family that breeds in Pakistan and northern and central India. It is associated with old buildings and rocky places. In the field it can be mistaken for a female Indian robin, but it is larger and lacks the reddish vent, and its stance and manner are different. When it flies, it has some likeness to thrushes and redstarts. It takes insects, mainly from the ground. In central India, the local name Shama has been recorded.
