Brown's Imperial Pigeon

Reinwardtoena browni

The Brown's Imperial Pigeon (Reinwardtoena browni) is a medium-sized pigeon species found in the rainforests and woodlands of New Guinea and nearby islands. It has a distinctive appearance with a grey-brown plumage, a white belly, and a prominent maroon patch on the nape. These pigeons are known for their distinctive deep, resonant calls that echo through the forest canopy. They primarily feed on fruits and seeds, playing an important role in seed dispersal within their habitat. Although not currently classified by the IUCN, their populations may be affected by habitat loss and hunting in some areas.
