Brown Skua

Stercorarius antarcticus (Lesson, RP, 1831)

Brown Skua, Stercorarius antarcticus, breeds in the Southern Ocean and around Antarctica, including southern ocean coasts, coastal southern Argentina, the Falkland Islands, the Tristan da Cunha group in the south-west Atlantic, and subantarctic and Antarctic islands from Cape Horn to the New Zealand region. It is a seabird in the skua family. Its classification is complicated, and it has been treated in different ways, including being split into separate forms. It also interbreeds with the south polar skua and the Chilean skua.
