Brown Thornbill

Allenia fusca

The Brown Thornbill (Allenia fusca) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the forests and woodlands of southeastern Australia. This species is characterized by its olive-brown plumage, distinctive pale eyebrow, and slender bill. Brown Thornbills are highly active foragers, often seen flitting through foliage in search of insects and spiders. They build dome-shaped nests using grass, bark, and spider webs, typically situated in dense vegetation. This species has adapted well to human-modified landscapes and is commonly observed in gardens and parks. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential long-term risks to the Brown Thornbill's population.
