Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Platysteira cyanea, is a passerine of west and central Africa, where it breeds in tropical woodland and secondary forest, as well as gardens. It belongs to the Platysteiridae, the wattle-eyes and batises. The bird is noted for the fleshy red wattles above the eye, and the breeding male also shows glossy black upperparts, white underparts, a black breast band and a strong white wingbar. Females share the wingbar and wattles, with maroon on the throat and breast. Young males are paler versions of the female.
