Brown Tit-Babbler, Macronus striaticeps, is a bird of the eastern and southern Philippines, with its breeding range in East Visayas, the Mindanao group and the Sulu Archipelago. It belongs to the Timaliidae family and was described by Sharpe in 1877. It is confined to the Philippines and lives in tropical moist lowland forest, tropical moist montane forest and scrubland. It is also recorded in primary and secondary forest up to 1,770 metres above sea level. Four subspecies are recognised, including a form from the Sulu Archipelago that is the most distinctive and has been proposed as a possible split.
