Brown Twinspot, Clytospiza monteiri, is a bird of sub-Saharan Africa, breeding from south-east Nigeria and Cameroon to south Sudan and western Kenya, and from Gabon to western Angola and eastern to central DR Congo. It is the only species in the genus Clytospiza. Hartlaub described it in 1860. It belongs to the estrildid finch family, within the order Passeriformes. Its recorded range also includes the Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Chad and Uganda.
