Brown Wood Rail, Aramides wolfi, is a rail in the family Rallidae that breeds in South America from Colombia to Peru. It is patchily distributed in western Colombia and western Ecuador, and a single Peruvian record was later withdrawn. The bird lives in mangroves, freshwater marshes, swampy woodland, river bottoms, and both mature and secondary forest, from sea level up to 900 m. Adults have a yellow-green bill, a red eye, pink legs and feet, an ashy grey head with a yellow forehead spot, a pale throat, and chestnut to warm brown upperparts with black tail, flanks and belly.
