Buckley's Forest Falcon

Buckley's Forest Falcon, Micrastur buckleyi, is a falcon of western Amazonia in South America, breeding in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru. It was described by Swann in 1919 and belongs to the Falconidae. It is a little-known forest bird, recorded from lowland tropical and subtropical woodland, with most records between 100 and 700 m. A few observations also come from higher ground. The species has a white collar in the adult male, while the female shows white spotting on the scapulars and secondaries. Juveniles differ again, with a buff breast and barred belly.
