Buff-breasted Flycatcher

Empidonax fulvifrons

The Buff-breasted Flycatcher is a small, insect-eating bird found in the highland forests of Central and South America. It has a distinctive olive-green back, yellowish underparts, and a pale eyering. This species is known for its distinctive call, a sharp 'che-bek' or 'che-burr' sound. Buff-breasted Flycatchers are often found in mixed-species flocks, foraging for insects by gleaning from foliage or catching them in mid-air. They prefer dense, humid montane forests and are often seen in the canopy or mid-levels of the forest. The Buff-breasted Flycatcher is not considered globally threatened, but habitat loss and deforestation are potential threats to its populations.
