Cantorchilus leucotis
The Buff-breasted Wren (Cantorchilus leucotis) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the lowland forests and woodlands of Central and South America. This wren is known for its distinctive buff-colored underparts and grayish-brown upperparts, with a bold white eyebrow stripe. It has a melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. The Buff-breasted Wren forages for insects and spiders in the dense understory, using its slender bill to probe into crevices and foliage. This species is generally secretive and elusive, preferring to stay hidden within the thick vegetation. Although not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
