Micropsitta pusio
The Buff-faced Pygmy Parrot (Micropsitta pusio) is a tiny and colorful parrot species found in the rainforests of New Guinea and nearby islands. Measuring around 8-9 centimeters in length, these parrots have a distinctive appearance with a bright green body, a buff-colored face, and red patches on the wings. They primarily feed on fruits, seeds, and insects, and are known for their acrobatic flying abilities. These parrots are often found in the canopy of tropical forests, where they nest in tree cavities. Due to their small size and elusive nature, they can be challenging to spot in the wild.
