Buff-necked Ibis

Theristicus caudatus

The Buff-necked Ibis, also known as the White-throated Ibis, is a striking bird found in grasslands, savannas, and wetlands of South America. This species is characterized by its long, curved bill, buff-colored neck, and distinctive black and white plumage. Buff-necked Ibises are often seen foraging for insects, small vertebrates, and other prey in open areas, using their long bills to probe the ground. They are social birds, often seen in small flocks or pairs. Although not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to their populations.
