Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Pardipicus nivosus, is a woodpecker of central and western Africa, where it breeds in tropical rainforest. It is found in primary and secondary forest, from lowland areas up to about 1,800 m, though it is most often recorded below 950 m. The species has a very broad range across tropical central Africa and is uncommon in some places, while being more frequent in others. It is a quiet, unobtrusive bird, and its population is regarded as stable.
