Buff-vented Bulbul, Iole crypta, is a bulbul of the Oriental Region, breeding on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and nearby islands including the Anambas, Batu, Riau, Bangka, Belitung and northern Natuna islands. It was described by Oberholser in 1918. The bird belongs to the family Pycnonotidae within the order Passeriformes. Its range also extends to south-eastern Myanmar and south-western Thailand. It lives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
