Icterus bullockii
Bullock's Oriole is a medium-sized songbird found in western North America. Males have striking orange and black plumage, while females are more subdued with yellowish and gray tones. These orioles are known for their melodious whistling songs and are often found in open woodlands, riparian areas, and suburban gardens. They build intricate hanging nests woven from plant fibers and spider silk. Bullock's Orioles primarily feed on insects, nectar, and fruits. Their populations are considered stable, but they face threats from habitat loss and nest parasitism by cowbirds.
