Bulwer's petrel

Bulweria bulwerii

Bulwer's petrel (Bulweria bulwerii) is a small seabird that belongs to the Procellariidae family. It is named after the Scottish naturalist James Bulwer. This species has a distinctive appearance, with a dark brown plumage, long wings, and a hooked bill. Bulwer's petrels are highly adapted for life at sea and are skilled fliers, often gliding low over the water. They are known for their long migrations, traveling vast distances across the ocean. These petrels are nocturnal feeders, preying on small fish, squid, and crustaceans. They nest in burrows on remote islands, where they are vulnerable to introduced predators and habitat destruction.
