Bulwer's Pheasant

Lophura bulweri (Sharpe, 1874)

Bulwer's Pheasant, Lophura bulweri, is a pheasant of Borneo in the family Phasianidae, breeding in the Oriental Region. It is a forest bird of the island and is known for its strong sexual differences. Males are black with a maroon breast, crimson legs, a white tail of long curved feathers, and blue facial skin with two wattles. Females are dull brown with red legs and blue facial skin. The species was described by Sharpe in 1874.
