California Condor

Euptilotus eutilotus

The California Condor is a massive bird with a wingspan of up to 3 meters, making it one of the largest flying birds in the world. These vultures are predominantly black with white markings on the wings and a featherless head. They are known for their remarkable soaring abilities and are often found in mountainous regions. California Condors are scavengers, feeding on carrion and carcasses of large mammals. Once on the brink of extinction, conservation efforts have helped increase their population, but they are still considered critically endangered.
