Cameroon Indigobird

Vidua camerunensis (Grote, 1922)

Cameroon Indigobird, Vidua camerunensis, is a passerine found in Africa from Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone east to South Sudan, north-east DR Congo and PR Congo. It belongs to the family Viduidae, the indigobirds and whydahs. Some authorities treat it as a form of the variable indigobird, Vidua funerea. Indigobirds are known for song mimicry, and the different species are not separated by obvious body differences, but by the songs they imitate. The species was described by Grote in 1922.
