Campbell's Fairywren

Chenorhamphus campbelli (Schodde & Weatherly, 1982)

Campbell's Fairywren, Chenorhamphus campbelli, is a bird of the Australasian wren family in the central part of southern lowland New Guinea. It lives in south-central and south-eastern New Guinea, where it occurs in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. The species was once placed with the broad-billed fairywren in Malurus, but later DNA work separated it and led to its own genus, Chenorhamphus. It was named for Rob Campbell, who recognised it while working in Papua New Guinea in the 1980s.
