Sakesphorus canadensis
The Canada Warbler is a small, migratory songbird known for its striking appearance and melodious song. This species is easily identified by its bright yellow underparts, slate-gray upperparts, and distinctive black necklace-like streaks across its throat and chest. Canada Warblers breed in dense, moist woodlands across Canada and the northeastern United States, where they construct cup-shaped nests on the forest floor. During migration, they can be found in a variety of forested habitats. This species primarily forages for insects and spiders in the understory, using its sharp bill to glean prey from foliage and branches. The Canada Warbler is a species of conservation concern due to habitat loss and fragmentation throughout its range.
