Phylloscopus canariensis (Hartwig, 1886)

Canary Islands Chiffchaff, Phylloscopus canariensis, is a leaf warbler that breeds in the western Canary Islands, with a former breeding presence in Lanzarote in the north-east of the archipelago. It is found across a wide range of habitats, from coastal gardens to high-altitude vegetation, but not in low semi-desert scrub. It is close to the common chiffchaff, yet can be told by its longer bill, shorter wings and longer tail, together with browner upperparts and buff-tinged underparts, especially on the flanks and breast.
