Zosterops luteus Gould, 1843
Canary White-eye, Zosterops luteus, is a passerine of the white-eye family that breeds along coastal northern Australia. It was described by Gould in 1843. It is tied to mangrove and nearby river-edge vegetation, and its range also includes coastal islands in the region. The bird is marked by a pale ring of feathers around the eye, with a dark line at the lores. It also has a short, pointed bill and a brush-tipped tongue. It is found in pairs or small flocks, and feeds in the outer growth of small trees and shrubs, sometimes on muddy mangrove flats.
