Cantor's Starling

Aplonis cantoroides

Cantor's Starling (Aplonis cantoroides) is a medium-sized bird native to the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. It has a glossy black plumage with a metallic sheen, and its eyes are a striking bright yellow. These birds are known for their melodious and varied songs, often heard in the dense forest habitats where they reside. They are social birds, often seen in small flocks foraging for fruits, insects, and nectar. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and introduced predators pose threats to its population.
