The Canyon Wren (Catherpes mexicanus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in rocky canyons and cliffs of western North America. It is known for its distinctive, melodious song that echoes through the canyons. This wren has a compact body with brown and white plumage, a long, slightly curved bill, and a short tail. It forages for insects and spiders in crevices and rocky outcrops. The Canyon Wren builds its cup-shaped nest in rock crevices and lays 4-5 eggs. It is a year-round resident in its range and is known for its agile climbing and hopping abilities on steep terrain.
