Cape Crow

Cape Crow, Corvus capensis, is a bird of Africa’s north, east and south, where it lives in open grassland, moorland and farmland with nearby trees or woodland for nesting. It is a black crow with a slight purple sheen, and the head can show a coppery-purple gloss. Its bill is long and slim, and the legs, wings and tail are proportionately long. The throat feathers become long and fluffed in some calls and displays. It is slightly larger than the carrion crow, and the northern birds are a little smaller than those in the south.
