Cape Parrot, Poicephalus robustus, breeds in eastern South Africa in Afromontane forest. It is a South African endemic and is tied to scattered forest patches rather than broad continuous woodland. The bird is a moderately large, short-tailed parrot with a very large bill, and that bill is used to break open hard nuts and fruit kernels. It is especially associated with African yellowwood trees. The species is now treated as separate from the brown-necked parrot and grey-headed parrot, after having once been grouped with them.
