Cape Verde Warbler

Acrocephalus brevipennis (Keulemans, 1866)

Acrocephalidae — Reed Warblers & Allies

Cape Verde Warbler, Acrocephalus brevipennis, is a passerine in the reed warbler family that breeds in the Cape Verde Islands, on Santiago, Fogo and São Nicolau, with Brava formerly included and now perhaps lost. It is tied to well-vegetated valleys and reedbeds, and it also occurs in cultivated land and near water sources. The bird is larger than the Eurasian reed warbler and shows grey-brown upperparts with greyish-white underparts and no clear patterning. Its song is a liquid bubbling note.
