Carmiol's Tanager

Chlorothraupis carmioli (Lawrence, 1868)

Carmiol's Tanager, Chlorothraupis carmioli, is a bird of Middle America and northern South America, breeding from Nicaragua to Colombia. It belongs to the cardinal family, Cardinalidae, and was first described in 1868. It is a robust species with evenly toned plumage, and the throat is a little yellower than the rest of the underparts. In males the throat is streaked, while females show a plain pale yellow throat and a yellowish area before the eye. The bill is dark and fairly heavy.
