Carolina Chickadee, Poecile carolinensis, is a tit in the family Paridae that breeds in south-eastern North America. It is a resident bird of mixed and deciduous woodland, and its range in the United States runs through the south-east. It is a small passerine with a black cap and bib, white face sides, grey upperparts, white underparts and rusty flanks. It is very close in appearance to the black-capped chickadee, but the wing and tail are slightly different, making field separation difficult without hearing it.
