Cassin's Finch

Haemorhous cassinii

Cassin's Finch is a small to medium-sized songbird found in the western parts of North America. It is known for its distinctive red crown, brown streaked body, and thick bill. This finch species is often found in coniferous forests, particularly in pine and fir trees, where it forages for seeds and insects. During the breeding season, the male Cassin's Finch sings a melodious song to attract a mate. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and climate change may pose future challenges to the population of Cassin's Finch.
