Myrmelastes caurensis
The Caure Antshrike (Myrmelastes caurensis) is a small to medium-sized bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with the male having a black head and back, and the female having a rufous crown. This species is often observed foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the dense understory of the forest. The Caure Antshrike is known for its loud and distinctive vocalizations, often heard in the early morning and late afternoon. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss due to deforestation poses a potential risk to its long-term survival.
